Small World 04:41
Why's it so hard to see you? I preach your love, but can't see you The world is small, green and blue I drink your blood to see you Where were you? Where were you, when I needed you? How could you? I can't live life prepared for death Where were you, when I needed you?
2.
The ordinary pass of time The floating purpose day and night The mice arrive to try to calm their nerves The situations that arise The men and women compromise A clean routine or die alone and sad I can't see where you'll find The life that's like the one you want So take me to the one that should be mine It's not right but I don't mind The things we do to pay the price To have a place to die when comes the time There comes a time when I must fall Through the cracks and through the walls Through the opening of arms you held out to me I'd never ask of you to stay, I might not be here anyway This place where nothing happens unless you leave
3.
Limping Lamb 04:24
You fault me when I cut you off, but that's what you are You say that every bruise is soft, but that's what I was You had it right babe, for once Your pale wrist was a limping lamb, when I heard the scream Now high winds pierce the company I try to keep Who's got their own life to lead? And if it trickles down I'll be behind your eyes Policing your blood to cleanse the chains that you sawed off The ocean and a fleet of words, reality's curse These versions of a perfect Rome are at my throat They smell weakness, I'm told Don't bother to tip-toe or lurch, I've got my own Gunnin' at full speed ahead, see if I care See what it means to me And if it trickles down I'll be behind your eyes Policing your blood to cleanse the chains that you sawed off
4.
There was a window for mistake There was a place for me to take Awakened by our conversations under sheets I was a fool to let you sit Roaming around, my conscience hid The back of my mind- flowers and notes not dead or read Picking me up with a bottle of shit Poison my blood just to stop a fit My face rains down into the water and the sinks already filled There was a window, heard you say Your car is a carcass newly decayed A pool of pity and soon a lake of fire and flight Every time now that I lay, I squeeze myself to my mistake The burning ghost I try to regain knows my real spine Momma don't take me from my spoon School's over but I still don't know the rules I should have loved her with all my soul and truth 'Cause all I have left is you
5.
Don't lie, you're not excited when you see me You don't come by anymore like you used to And I'm shy Build up the courage just to text you And you don't reply so fast like you used to, that's true But it's alright, It's ok I'm probably better off on my own these days I understand, you're not to blame I guess I'm just upset that you're going away Goodbye honey, I tried I'm cryin' honey, every night Last time, I dreamt I held you 'til the morning You'd be surprised how that happens so often And you lied, you told me something and then took it back You were just drunk and didn't know where your heart was at But it's alright, it's ok I'd probably disappoint you again someday I guess it's fair, a lesson shared I'll see you down the road when we both don't care Good bye honey, and smile We tried honey, next time Do do do do do (Goodbye honey) Do do do do do (Goodbye)
6.
Wait for the selfish bell to ring on time Stay inside of the ropes that help define your life Round and round again, lead us to the imagined stairs Wait for the selfish bell to ring on time Stay inside of the ropes that help define your life Ring ring twice, you don't have to look me in the eye Every night, use the selfish bell to pass the time Round and round again, lead us to the imagined stairs
7.
Tug of War 02:20
I can do the thing, I'm put here for My dying name, a tug of war I can do the thing, I'm not too sure My dying name, a tug of war
8.
Blood Sport 03:15
Tomb ridin' in the ford now, turn the radio on Flick another through the holes and tell the kid what you want Blood sport, hail the damage you've done Run soul, fill it up and get gone I could see you, turning away Oh yeah, hey hey Hate to see you, fading away Oh yeah, baby I could see you, turning away Oh yeah, baby Welcome back into the fold now, royal family of haunt Speaking softly in the corner, can't believe what you saw Blood sport, all the damage you've done Rust soul, kill the head and it's done I could see you, turning away Oh yeah, hey hey Hate to see you, fading away Oh yeah, baby I could see you, turning away Oh yeah, baby I could see you, turning away (You always gotta, you're always turning away) Oh yeah, hey hey Hate to see you, fading away (I hate to see it, you're going missing on me) Oh yeah, baby I could see you, turning away Oh yeah, baby
9.
You and me, we're bound to be together, together You and me, we're bound to be together, forever I could see it in your eyes, that you've never had a love like this before Cause' you and me, we're bound to be together, together, forever, together So in love, a smile on my face the moment I step outside It's alive, and spinning out of control Don't be shy, I know we both got the same things on our mind We're alive, in a way that I've never known, and I never wanna let you go With you I feel right at home
10.
Do I? 03:37
You must be having such a lovely time It couldn't compare to mine The Island love is beaming off the screen He looks as happy as I'd be Oh yeah, do I? Oh yeah, do I? My shiny red car drives across your streets You're safe inside one of these houses sleeping I creep back west, onto the southern state And head back home, to where nothing awaits me Oh yeah What do I do? Ignore you Pretend nothing is shaking me Who cries out to someone new Without fearing the obvious?
11.
Let the rain form and flood, there's a demon in my heart Raise a glass to untimely ends, 'cause they make us whole again I am born, into a place, into a trend And the nightmares never end, 'til death Let the rain form and flood, there's a demon in my heart Save the best for a phony friend, ignore the ones who know you well I am torn, into a shape, a shifting face Slam the door and walk away, kill me
12.
The shark bite delivered on time, blood is the brine I'm swimming in The stink of decay fumes the night, yellowish haze God left you to die When trumpets fall out of the sky Our jostling heads, shriek in reply The music seeps through so loud, and our spirits are high Oh, now we can leave this world in style The framework you live in will rust, crumble and bust Don't give it your trust We'll keep them alive long enough To chart the brainwaves, and savor the taste When trumpets fall out of the sky Our jostling heads, shriek in reply The music seeps through so loud, and our spirits are high Oh, now we can leave this world in style
13.
Nothing is wrong but nothing is free, you gotta Gotta be strong, you gotta be brave, don't doubt it Gotta hold on, you gotta move on and baby Give yourself into love All of the past is only a dream awaking All of the time you spend in your mind, you're chasing Shedding your shell to quiet that yell, and finally Give yourself into love Pick up the bones you've hurried along and buried Don't be alarmed, the changes that come are shocking Lock eyes with friends and tell them that they're your family Give yourself into love All of the days you've numbered don't add to many What matters the most is fighting the urge to give up Give moving on and upwards and when you're ready Give yourself into love

about

"We're excited to share the new album from Long Island band Gamblers, Small World, in full. Pulling from distinctly New York sounds, the band blend singer-songwriter sensibilities with driving garage rock, thoughtful slowburns, and unexpected left turns for a full realized and compelling debut.

Led by Michael McManus, the record has been a long time coming. Though he grew up in the shadow of Long Island emo and indie bands, and played in his fair share of DIY groups, college saw the aspiring musician dive headfirst into the beatmaking and producer scene, eventually building collaborative relationships with artists like Meek Mill and Das Racist's Heems, and landing placements in Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown and Viceland’s Gaycation.

Now, he's taking his newly honed production chops and reapplying them to the songwriting skills he's been building since his teenage years. The end result is one of the most compelling indie debuts of the year, fusing 2000's indie with power and dream pop with undeniable depth. The record deals with addiction, rejecting organized religion, and the deep well of life experience McManus has accumulated. Small World is available everywhere now."

about

Gamblers New York

For Gamblers leader Michael McManus, a few too many brushes with mortality have him feeling like there’s a great force threatening to pound him literally into dust. Pulverizer however isn't a dark album. Gamblers serve a rousing fusion of organic and electronic sounds. It's the ultimate afterparty album that hasn’t entirely left the celebration behind. ... more
